Answer. In AMHSAs’ opinion it cannot be classified as machinery, if it were it would come under the machinery directive mandatary requirements.

Question. Are there EU standards that define the max vertical travel of an automated pallet stacker above which it is classed as a crane? I understand that in Japan the limit is 1.5m.
Answer. If a machine runs on rails within aisles and is used for the storage and retrieval of units loads and employs a means of lifting, it will be to EN 528. There is no maximum vertical travel given that
